What made you decide to become a lawyer?
I like words and I argued about them a lot when I was a kid so my parents always said I should study law.
Where did you study law and what was your favourite subject?
Otago University. My favourite law subject was law and emerging technologies, this was a fascinating mix of looking at the law in relation to existing technologies and the philosophical issues of and approaches towards making law around new/hypothetical technology. It was great because it was taught by a hilarious lecturer with an amazing Scottish accent.

Life isn't always fair, but if you're in the right place you can help to make it fair, even if it's in a small way or just for one specific person.
Do you have any hobbies / interests outside of work?
Reading which I always make time for, and theater which I hope to get back into now that I've settled down in Whanganui.

What do you love about your job?
I love doing work where I get to deal with real people, helping with their problems, that's intellectually stimulating, and that I worked hard to get qualified for.
